I used to feel the same way you do (and sometimes still feel that way). I am usually the last person to know about the “next big thing” and feel left in the dark. Even with my current business, I still feel that way at times.

Man I wish you knew how encouraging this post was to me. As a guy trying to get a couple of small ventures off the ground, I’m constantly reminded that they aren’t the next big thing. Everywhere I look it seems others have bigger and better ideas than mine. At the end of the day though, my two fledgling business ideas are things I am passionate about and they fit within my lifestyle. Plus, I don’t have to risk a lot to get them going.

Love the blog. I’ve referred to your site numerous times while setting up a store for one of my sites.

Yep. It’s not always about reinventing the wheel but putting a different spin on an existing wheel. I truly believe that almost anyone can do it if they go for it.

Your peers can have a lot of influence over what is considered sexy and cool. But if you can cast all of that aside and act based on your own situation, things usually work out.

Thanks! I always thought of entrepreneurship in terms of starting a huge billion dollar company until my wife and I opened our store. Perhaps more people would go into business for themselves if they didn’t feel like they had to start something big.

This is very well shared. In fact, sometimes our timidness and concerns are greatly dependent to people’s opinions and the fear of uncertainty just because others are seem to have much better opportunities than us. Fact is we should follow our instinct at times, and do what’s right for us. And I think the idea of this post is applicable in many ways in life as well.
