If you do any work with the government, you will need to get a Duns and Bradstreet number. They are also the primary source for Business Credit Scores. The number itself is free, they try to sell you packages but there are no fees involved in just getting a D&B number, no matter what the sales guy say. Usually easiest just to tell them you need the number quickly for a govt contract

The government makes it very complicated because they want documentation of your business at all levels of government so they can tax you to death. Especially now most governments are bankrupt and really need the money

I think the main reason government make life o complicated is because it removes the burden of providing employment from government to the small employer. It's an abrogation of responsibility. All these rules and regulations add to the business burden. One could argue I suppose that people engaged in regulation enforcement and so forth are employed in a manner that's more dignified than if they ere simply handed benefits or welfare but really they similarly mostly serve no real use to the community. Their positions are mostly cosmetic. It disguises government's incompetence and it distracts folks from maybe observing that the maths of a culture where money comes into existence as "loans" from banks is unsustainable. Whew! Big rant there :-)

Oh yea, sounds like a massive headache. Why must the government make everything so complicated, lol? No matter. I've heard of Legal Zoom before but didn't know how legit it was. Now I know. Thanks Steve.

This series, like the previous ones, is proving out to be really informative. I really look forward to the great write-ups from you.

It'll be great, if you can suggest the readers products and services (whenever you mention one in your write-ups) too.
