Weekly Musings – New Member of MWQHJ On The Way!
This past week was especially busy and profitable for our online store. Sales of handkerchiefs and other personalized items were abnormally high for reasons that I can’t really explain.
Perhaps one reason for the increased sales is that I finally got around to posting a link to our store’s recent inclusion in Brides Magazine on the sidebar. Yep, our online store was mentioned in the July/August issue of Brides magazine and it took me 2 entire months to make it stand out on our online store. Pretty dumb I know, but there have been many higher priority items on my plate as of late.
For one thing, the amount of inventory that we’ve been storing has been rapidly increasing and we’ve added a ton of new products to the store in the past month alone. At some point, we will hit the tipping point and will need to revamp the way we organize and store our products. Either that or find a larger storage facility.
The other more important and major upcoming event in my life is that we are expecting another child in December and are busy prepping for the new baby. I’m not sure how my wife and I are going to manage 2 kids, a business, a blog and a full time job but we have a few more months to figure things out:)
Weekly Roundup
Even though this week has been really busy, I still managed to get in some pleasure reading.
I finally got around to finishing my buddy David Ning’s new book, “The Little Budget Travel Book”. For everyone who doesn’t know David Ning, he runs a popular finance blog called MoneyNing.com
I must admit that when I first picked up the book, I was a bit dismayed by how thin it was. But as I began reading it, I realized that David purposely wrote a very concise book without a whole lot of fluff. “The Little Budget Travel Book” is exactly as described, a little book full of hard facts and travel tips that you can easily take with you wherever you go. I’ve always thought of myself as a master of budget travel but I still managed to learn a few new things!
This week I also read an excellent ebook on how to write a successful blog written by Erica Douglass of Erica.biz. For those of you who’ve never heard of Erica, she is an amazing writer/entrepreneur that sold a 1.1 million dollar business at the ripe age of 26.
I’ve read my fair share of ebooks and reports on blogging and making money but I consider Erica’s book to be exceptionally well written. Especially if you are thinking about starting a blog, you should definitely go to her website and check it out. Best of all, the report is 100% free.

Thanks for the link! I see you’ve implemented some of the tips.
I was thinking about changing “I’m ready” as the Submit button to “Get my free tips” or something similar, and testing that. I think that might work better. If you decide to test it, let me know.

Hi, Steve.
It must be pretty overwhelming on the time management aspect, but things always have a way of working out.
Wow, you’ve got a lot going on there. I’d like to congratulate you and your wife on your soon-to-be new addition! Here’s to another healthy baby… I wish you the best of luck
Thanks Valerie!
@Erica
I’m not sure if the button tagline makes much of a difference, but the only way to find out is to experiment
Thanks for the mention and congrats on the new member! I was thinking more like someone to help with the blog or business but if you train early enough, it probably might turn out that way!
On another note, I heard that changing the name of the submit buttons definitely changes things, and like you said, there’s no telling until you experiment
