Hi Carla,

Lately, I've been falling for the same pitfalls mentioned in this article. It's really hard for me to take things easy which is why I tend to get burned out more often than not.

I'm glad I read this post. I'm starting to feel the same way about my business. Working a full-time day job isn’t helping! I guess if I’m feeling like I’m doing something wrong or if I’m not getting much response, it’s easy for me to become manic about it. Its good in a way, but for all the reasons you and the commenter’s have mentioned, I need to create more balance in my life.

Thats some good advice. I wish I would have read this before I suffered a similar fate recently. I had gotten so excited about starting my own business, that I didn't spend anytime with my wife, or time on myself. I took my wife for granted. Eventually I realized what I was doing and now things are back on track. I encourage all people starting new companies to put their family and health first!

Thanks for the comment Danny. If it weren't for my wife, I probably would've gone mad. Unfortunately, being an impatient workaholic is part of my personality and I'm still working hard to get that aspect of myself under control. Thankfully, having a child has completely changed my perspective on life.

These are great examples to point out to anyone either thinking of starting their own business, or currently in a start-up. Too often people try to do too much, too soon, as opposed to setting a realistic timetable and sticking to it.

I've been guilty myself of going to bed at 3.00am, getting back up at 6.30am and working like that for weeks on end. Luckily, I realized it was doing more harm than good, and re-evaluated what I need to do and when it needs to be done.

I would heartily recommend your points to anyone.

Unfortunately, I'm having a bout of deja vu with regards to this blog. This time around, I'm living a much more balanced life though I still occasionally over do it.

So many good points here about trying to get too much done & neglecting other areas of your life, I certainly can relate!
