I think in both cases she already knew what she wanted but she was afraid of making a mistake. For the bride as soon as she found out that big scallops are popular she "knew" that was what she wanted. Same for the groom, in this case though she was worried about black being morbid and as soon as you told her other people ordered black she was good to go. And at the end of the day, if the bride and/or groom don't like them she gets to blame you. :-) Actually I would say you gave her the advice she was looking for.
