What Is An Amazon Product Tester?

An Amazon product tester is a person who tests and reviews Amazon products in exchange for free products or cash.

Amazon product testing can be a good side hustle, especially if you are passionate about sharing your opinions and posting on social media platforms.

Meanwhile, third-party Amazon sellers benefit from the positive reviews you provide as it helps boost their Amazon search rankings and the organic sales of their products.

Are Amazon Product Testers Legit?

Amazon only allows product testers through their official review program called Amazon Vine.

Accepting products from Amazon sellers as compensation for reviews outside of Amazon Vine violates Amazon’s Terms of Service (ToS) and can result in account suspensions or other penalties for both you and the seller.

However, you are allowed to post your feedback on your own website or social media accounts.

How Do You Become An Amazon Product Tester?

You can become an Amazon product tester by joining the Amazon Vine program, using Amazon reviewer websites, joining Amazon’s affiliate program, or becoming an Amazon influencer.

Let’s take a closer look at each one of these options:

1. Amazon Vine

Amazon Vine program logo

Amazon Vine is an exclusive, invite-only program where Amazon hand picks reviewers to serve as “Vine Voices.”

As a Vine Voice, you can order Amazon products for free, including new and pre-release items, and share your personal experiences with the product on Amazon.

Any review you leave as a member of Amazon Vine will have a “Vine Customer Review of Free Product” or a “Vine Voice” special badge.

Bad Vine Review

Amazon wants honest feedback, so you’re not obligated to provide positive reviews. As long as your feedback is genuine and helpful for Amazon customers, Amazon will continue to send you products.

Unfortunately, Amazon doesn’t pay you in cash for being a product tester.

If you’re interested in joining Amazon Vine, you must leave thorough and detailed reviews of your Amazon purchases so you can be recognized as a high quality reviewer by fellow Amazon customers.

Once you’ve left enough detailed reviews, Amazon will eventually notice and send you an invitation to join the Amazon Vine Program.

2. Amazon Reviewer Sites

By joining Amazon reviewer websites like Rebaid and Vipon, you can write reviews in exchange for free or discounted Amazon products.

These highly-popular websites let sellers gather feedback for their products before releasing them for sale on Amazon.

Rebaid and Vipon are not regulated by Amazon, making them more susceptible to fraud. For this reason, you should read each review site’s policy before signing up.

Here are four reviewer sites for you to consider:

Vipon

Vipon homepage

Vipon is a popular website and app featuring thousands of discounted Amazon products for sale.

Vipon stands out from other websites by allowing 150 product discount codes per month, making it one of the highest-traffic product review sites on the internet.

However, the discount codes on Vipon are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. As a result, you need to be proactive and regularly check the site or app to secure the best deals.

Snagshout

Snagshout homepage

Snagshout connects influencers and product reviewers with Amazon sellers by offering cash back and discount codes on thousands of Amazon products on their website.

However, Snagshout shoppers are limited to buying two products daily to prevent users from monopolizing too many deals.

Rebates are transferred to your Snagshout wallet 35 days after order confirmation. You can then withdraw your funds via PayPal.

Rebaid

Founded in 2019, Rebaid is a rebate website that provides up to 100% cashback on products from Amazon, Walmart, Etsy, and other popular retailers.

Rebaid shoppers receive their rebate payments via mailed check or direct deposit within seven to 14 days after confirming their Amazon order number.

Rebaid places a restriction of 10 redemptions in the first month, after which the monthly redemption limits gradually increase.

Jump Send

Jump Send, a tool owned by Jungle Scout, has 100,000 active users who shop for Amazon deals at discounts of up to 90%.

Like the other reviewer websites on this list, Jump Send doesn’t offer payment for leaving reviews.

3. Amazon Associates

Amazon Associates is Amazon’s official affiliate program, which allows members to earn a commission when they refer customers to purchase Amazon products.

Since Amazon is the largest ecommerce marketplace in the US, with millions of products listed, bloggers and content creators can easily make passive income by signing up.

All you need is an attractive website, app, or an established social media following to be accepted into the Amazon Associates program.

Here’s how the Amazon Associates program works:

  1. Sign up and get accepted into the program.
  2. Receive your unique ID.
  3. Create affiliate links in your Amazon portal and place these links on your blog or social media posts.
  4. Your audience clicks on your link and purchases products on Amazon.
  5. The commission is paid 60 days after the end of the month in which your earnings were generated.

You don’t need to purchase Amazon products in order to participate in their affiliate program, but in general, you should never recommend products that you haven’t used yourself.

4. Become An Influencer

If you are an online influencer with a large number of followers, you can earn money as an Amazon product tester by reviewing and recommending Amazon products to your audience.

There are two ways to do this:

  1. Join the Amazon influencer program.
  2. Become a social media influencer

Amazon Influencer

If you have built a large social media following on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok, you can join the Amazon Influencer Program.

While the Amazon Influencer and Amazon Associates programs are similar on the surface, the Amazon Influencer program offers additional benefits such as access to in-depth marketing tools and a personalized Amazon store.

A customized Amazon storefront makes it easy for your followers to browse through your curated list of recommended products.

Social Media Influencer

Social media influencers can test different Amazon products and share their honest feedback with their audience directly on their platform.

If you have a sizable social media following, brands will compensate you for endorsing their products to your audience.

You can also join influencer networks like Upfluence and YouTube BrandConnect to find brand campaigns that align with your niche.

How Much Do Amazon Product Testers Make?

Coins and a green plant in a transparent potAmazon product testers can make anywhere from a few hundred dollars per month up to 6 figures per year. Most of the money you earn as an Amazon product tester will come from endorsement deals with independent companies, the Amazon Influencer program, or Amazon Associates.

Amazon does not directly compensate product testers within the Vine program.

However, as a Vine Voice, you will receive free products that you can flip for cash on sites like Ebay.

Most highly-paid Amazon product testers have a dedicated following on social media or a large email subscriber list.

How Do You Promote Amazon Products?

The best way to promote Amazon products and receive compensation is by joining the Amazon Associates program and incorporating affiliate links within your content.

The quickest way to build a following is to start reviewing Amazon products on social media platforms, particularly TikTok or Instagram, where you have a better chance of going viral than on other platforms.

Start by reviewing the Amazon products you already own and share your experiences with your audience.

Then, leverage the deals from Amazon discount and rebate sites to save money on new products for your reviews.

Is Becoming An Amazon Product Tester Worth It?

Becoming an Amazon product tester is worth it if you like getting free stuff or if you want to make a few thousand dollars on the side reviewing products that you like.

Joining the Amazon Vine program is the only legit way to leave reviews for free products on Amazon. To increase your chances of being accepted as an Amazon product tester, create high-quality and helpful reviews with photos and videos, a bulleted list of pros and cons, along with your own personal opinion on the products you’re reviewing.

Product testing can be a fun and rewarding experience especially if you focus on reviewing products that you actually want to keep.

Becoming an Amazon product tester may not make you life-changing money, but it’s a fun side hustle that can generate some extra spending cash.
